Castletown is a country house on a grand scale providing the facilities and comfort of an excellent hotel which can take up to 20 guests. Bedrooms are mostly with en-suite bathrooms. There is a library with television, a billiard room, a breakfast room and a gun room all for the use of guests. Castletown is the home of Giles and Penelope Mounsey-Heysham.

They live in part of the house and the remainder has been completely refurbished for shooting parties. Penelope Mounsey Heysham is a cordon bleu cook and the cuisine is both imaginative and mouthwatering. Much of the meat and game comes from the farm and the estate; and the walled garden provides the fresh vegetables. There is also a wellstocked wine cellar.

Activities for non shooting wives!

A chauffeur/guide is available for cashmere shopping in Hawick, fashions at Gretna Gateway and visits to local art galleries and contemporary potters. The Lake District, Carlisle Cathedral, Hadrian's Wall and the Galloway Coast with its famous gardens are not far away. Picnic lunches can be provided or the ladies can join the shoot at Langholm
